VANHA PAUKKU OFFERS A WEALTH OF EXPERIENCES
Vanha Paukku is a cultural and business centre with a unique history and environment on the banks of the Lapuanjoki river. What used to be the Lapua Cartridge Factory now hosts conference spaces, museums, the restaurant Iso Prässi, Café Patruuna and various shops, such as the museum shop Harmonia and Lapuan Kankurit, recipient of the Taito-Finlandia and Ornamo Sphere awards. The cultural centre’s walls also contain a cinema, library, music and adult education centre and Theatre Lapua. In the summer, Vanha Paukku’s pier is also the starting point for riverboat tours.
DAY TRIP:
– The tour introduces you to the rich history of the factory area, along with museums like the Lapua Cartridge Factory Museum, Lapua Movement Museum, Pyhälahti Photography Museum and Lapua Art Museum. It will also introduce you to the exhibitions at the Cartridge Art Gallery and Ostrobothnian Photography Centre’s gallery and take you to visit the memorial chapel dedicated to the victims of the cartridge factory explosion, Pajakappeli.
– Explore the cultural centre’s wonderful shops: Lapuan Kankurit and museum shop Harmonia.
– Lunch at restaurant Iso Prässi Mon–Fri 10.30 a.m. – 1.30 p.m.

– Shooting range: Among many other things, Vanha Paukku also houses a shooting range belonging to Lapua’s shooting association, Lapuan Seudun Ampujat ry. The range can fit up to 14 people at a time. Test your skill with air pistols and air rifles.
– Take a riverboat tour back through time into Lapua’s history and the nature of South Ostrobothnia. The M/S KOIVUNLEHTI will take you on a roughly hour-long guided tour of the Lapuanjoki river.
– Enjoy a cup of coffee at Café Patruuna.
