Kauhajärvi Church was first opened in 1983. The building was designed by architects Erkki Karvala, Matti Silvennoinen and Markku Koskinen. It has seating for 262 people, including the gallery.
The churchyard is also home to a bell tower dating back to 1923 and designed by famed Finnish architect Alvar Aalto.
