The Hautanen Merchant House was built in the 19th century to Jalmari Lahdensuo’s designs. Over the course of its long history, the building has hosted Hautanen’s shop, the Lotta Svärd women’s paramilitary organisation in the 1940s and later the women’s association Lapuan Naisyhdistys, as well as an adult education centre. Today, the building is a day care centre.
