A memorial designed by architect Markku Koskinen, named ‘Ero’, or ‘Parting’, stands in front of Cultural Centre Vanha Paukku (Vanhan Paukun tie 1).https://vanhapaukku.fi/historia/ A monument designed by local sculptor Timo Suvanto can be found on the ‘new’ side of the Simpsiön hautausmaa cemetery (Kappelintie 19). The monument is called ‘Yhteinen Tuska’, or ‘Shared Anguish’.

Lapuan vapauden pylväät.

The Freedom Columns

Following a successful initiative by the influential veteran of the Winter and Continuation Wars Hermanni Haapoja, the monument Vapauden Pylväät, or Freedom Columns, was erected in Laurila Park in autumn 1994. The monument was created by sculptor Timo Suvanto and dedicated to the memory of those who fought in the Winter and Continuation Wars.
